The alarm sounds at 5am and I lethargically roll out of bed and immediately grab my laptop and check my email. This is a huge week for me at Downtown South, we have major event Pedalpalooza today. In this internship I’ve learned that work availability is very important, which include being able to work days, nights, or weekends. Report time can be scheduled any time of the day including early mornings or late evening.
After getting dress and grabbing my breakfast, I hurry out the door and begin my hour drive into work. I rush to the event location, and begin to setup. With wide-ranging functions and constant deadlines, the event coordinating field is fast-paced and demanding. “In short, there are not enough hours in the day, and there are not enough weekends in the year,” said Lou Ann Dunn. A lot my time is spent on the computer or phone with clients, hammering out important details. I receive many, many emails from with my lead and other Downtown South staff member discussing event information. The physical demands of an event coordinator are taxing to say the least. Regardless, without a shadow of a doubt I love what I do! The greatest sensation is coordinating an event for your customer, and all the elements come together seamlessly.
