Our Whole Community to Supply Growboxes for Healthy Central Florida Grant Recipient
(July 2, 2014 – Orlando, FL) – The Winter Park Housing Authority, one of 13 Healthy Central Florida grant recipients for its Garden and Healthy Food Program for Low Income Seniors, will receive growboxes and growbox instruction from Our Whole Community (OWC) for seniors living at Plymouth Apartments in Winter Park.
“The closing of the Winter Park Village Publix off Highway 17-92 limits access to food for those seniors,” says OWC Board Chair Lavon Williams. “We are honored to work with the Winter Park Housing Authority by providing our growboxes.”
Healthy Central Florida received 28 applications in the second annual Health Innovation Grants. This round focused on increasing healthy food access. The total amount granted by Healthy Central Florida was $25,000.
