Downtown South Announces 2014 Best Business Winners
(Orlando, FL, June 2, 2014) Downtown South, a City of Orlando Main Street program, awarded five businesses with “Best Business Awards” at its sixth annual spring social at Orlando Brewery. The winners were picked from a pool of more than 120 businesses in a two-week time span.
Residents and customers in the Downtown South area were surveyed to find out which businesses along Orange Avenue and Michigan Street they believed earned the awards. Categories included Best Value, Best Customer Service, Best Family Atmosphere, Best Independent Business, and Most Improved Curb Appeal.
Recipients of the awards were:
- Best Value – Freshfields Farm
- Best Customer Service – Old Florida National Bank
- Best Family Atmosphere –Chick-fil-A
- Best Independent Business – Old Florida National Bank
- Most Improved Curb Appeal- SoDo Shopping Center
Freshfields Farm received the “Best Value” award for the fourth year in a row.
About Downtown South:
Downtown South is one of seven Orlando Main Street programs initiated by Mayor Buddy Dyer and established in 2008. The Downtown South program focuses on business district revitalization and is part of the National Main Street program. Main Street programs involve residents working in partnership with businesses and commercial property owners to revitalize the commercial district through creating events, new streetscapes and recruiting and retaining businesses. The Downtown South area encompasses Orange Avenue from Gore on the North to Pineloch on the South and Michigan Street from Fern Creek on the East and Division on the West.
