It’s been a week since my last blog and during that time I was able to attend the FemCity Orlando event called “Get Help With Your Yelp.” It was an incredibly informative event where Andi Perez, the Yelp Community Manager for the Orlando area, went over the perks of having a business on Yelp, all of the ways business owners can utilize the site to provide the best customer service possible, and ways they can grow their business through exposure and advertising.
Prior to hearing her speak, I had heard several negative things about Yelp and its business practices and I was very much looking forward to Andi addressing these rumors. I was pleasantly surprised when Andi easily disproved many of the myths I had heard and extensively covered all of the great things Yelp does for the community. Specifically, I was very surprised to learn that Yelp hosts and organizes events throughout the community every so often for anyone to attend and enjoy themselves. Even more surprising was that people can review the Yelp events on the Yelp site itself! Apparently some of the event goers weren’t exactly enthralled with the last event, but now Andi can take those reviews and put on an even better event the next time around!
I was very pleased to meet some of the Femfessionals that were in attendance at the event as well as the owner of Community Acupuncture of Orlando where the event took place. I was thrilled to learn about “two for $10 Tuesdays” where I can bring one of my friends and get some great acupuncture for only $10! As a college student, this was amazing news – a way to do something great for my mind and body and yet still be on a budget! Tuesday can’t come soon enough.
Until next time,
