Reading between the Wines raises $100K+ for the Adult Literacy League
(May 2, 2014 — Orlando, Fla.) More than 300 people ascended on the Orlando Science for this year’s Reading between the Wines annual fundraiser, raising more than $100,000 in cash and in-kind donations for the Adult Literacy League (ALL).
The annual event featured Stuart Woods, the Edgar Award-winning author of more than 50 novels, who most recently published Doing Hard Time, the writer’s latest in his immensely popular series featuring Stone Barrington, a former cop-turned-millionaire lawyer.
Wine was provided by Darden; Bank of America was presenting sponsor. Food sponsors included Burger Craft, Cabot, The Ravenous Pig/Cask & Larder, The Coop, and Disney’s Captain’s Grille.
Proceeds from Reading between the Wines will benefit the students and families served by the Adult Literacy League, the premier provider of adult literacy services in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. The organization provides adult basic education and English language literacy through one-to-one tutoring and classes. The League currently serves 1,000-plus adult learners on a weekly basis. In addition, the organization serves the early literacy needs of more than 600 low-income, pre-school children through its Family Literacy Program called Read to Me!
