Fall Brings Garden Events to Winter Park
(September 19, 2013 – Orlando, FL) – This Saturday, September 21, 2013, on the cusp on the first day of Autumn, begins a series of fall gardening events in Winter Park just in time for a Thanksgiving and holiday harvest.
Sponsored by Our Whole Community (OWC), the series kicks off from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, at the OWC Garden at Winter Park Presbyterian Church, 400 S. Lakemont Ave. The event is free for OWC gardeners; $10 per family of non-OWC gardeners.
“This is an exciting time for gardeners as they will learn how to plant their gardens for a home-grown Thanksgiving harvest,” says OWC Board Chair Lavon Williams. He says other events scheduled for this fall include:
- OWC Community Garden Tour, October 5, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Begins and ends at Winter Park Community Center, includes lunch and special sneak peak preview of East End Market. Cost is $25 per individual.
- Plant Your Christmas Dinner, October 22, 6 – 8 p.m., at the OWC Garden, 550 W. Morse Boulevard, Winter Park. (Garden entrance is on Welbourne Avenue). $10 per family; free for OWC Gardeners.
- Gifts From the Garden, November 3, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the St. Mary Magdalen Learning Garden.
